People no longer look at Boris Johnson on TV and ask themselves why is this liar lying to me. So when Chris Whitty and the prime minister hold a press conference together, there’s only one person to whom the country is listening. He doesn’t want to be seen too close to the prime minister with the possibility of a leadership election in the offing sometime in the new year. That’s what Boris wanted people to do and that’s what they ought to be doing. It was God’s way of punishing a decadent society that no longer trusted its own prime minister.
